Sometimes, you just have to say “What the *(#(” ….we started our week on Saturday night this week with our first show for the Krewe Of Zeus ball in the Pontchatrain Center in Kenner, LA. By far, one of the best times we’ve had in a while. The Mothership light show was set up and we had a wild group of friends and fans with us. 2hr 45 min show: Jump is back in the set list…as well as a crazy Jenny Says.
We’d like to thank our good friend, Stephen Lundgren of the Bucktown Allstars, for all his support and help. If it aint Stephen from Bucktown, it aint dem Allstars Baby!
Then on Sunday…wow….we played a gig with PETER NOONE and HERMINS HERMITS. Don’t know who I’m talking about? Here’s some hits
Henry VIII I am
Kind Of Hush All Over The World
Something Tells Me I’m Into Something Good
Must To Avoid
Dandy
Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter
….
This man has had something like 200 number one hits. This was an amazing time…..
Our great friend, Mr. Eddie Benoit, was throwing his 50th birthday party at the Jefferson Orleans South. Mr. Eddie is good friends with Peter Noone who agreed to come down to New Orleans with Hermins Hermits to perform for the big event. We were delighted when Mr. Eddie asked us to open the show.
We got to the Jefferson Orleans and found an awesome stage and lighting set up (along with two generators to power it). It was an amazing feat to get all this gear into the JO South and NOT have anything 1.) blow up or 2.) sound too loud. Our hats are tipped to the Sherman Bernard Sound Co. for a great job. 300 chairs were set up around the hall to give a concert atmosphere. We went on after a quick soundcheck at 3:15pm and played an hour of great R and B songs…as well as some british invasion classics. Hermins Hermits hit the stage around 5pm and played for almost two hours. Peter and the band were fantastic…he is a fantastic performer and looks as young as ever.
I saw Hermins Hermits when I was five years old…in the Audubon Zoo on the same bill with The Monkees and The Turtles. Twenty years later, The Mixed Nuts and Hermin’s Hermits are on the same bill.
Crazy? I think so!
Happy Birthday to Mr. Eddie Benoit!
